Professor Bernardo Batiz-Lazo named Honorary ATM Industry Champion
Professor Bernardo Batiz-Lazo, Professor of Business History and Bank Management at Bangor Business School, has been named an Honorary ATM Industry Champion by the ATM Industry Association (ATMIA).
He is the only academic amongst four Honorary Champions, and was nominated for his “work in becoming [the] most important industry historian”, having become a prolific commentator on the cashless society and payment systems.
Mike Lee, CEO of ATMIA, commented: “Professor Batiz-Lazo was inducted as an honorary ATM Industry Champion because he is the world’s leading ATM business historian. As co-author of Cash Box: The Invention and Globalization of the ATM and as the most accessible academic researcher working in our industry, he’s an invaluable voice of fact-based truth.
“His role has become even more important to us as the ATM industry prepares to commemorate its 50th anniversary in 2017. For these reasons, he richly deserves the honour of being recognised as one of our international ATM Industry Champions”.
