Prominent Speakers to address TILT Terminology and Translation Conference
On Thursday 12th June a one day conference for translation practitioners and students will be held at Bangor University in connection with the TILT training programme. TILT offers training in languages and translation to small and medium sized companies in North and West Wales. Translators and language officers can study part time through distance learning for a Postgraduate Certificate in Translation, and the credits gained can be used towards a Masters’ degree in the subject.
The conference is open to all those following the course at the moment and also open to anyone who would be interested in taking part on the course, university students, and professional translators. Further information about the conference is available on the TILT website.
The guest speakers at the conference include Anna-lena Bucher, recently retired as the Director General of the Swedish Centre of Terminology. Other prominent speakers are Chris Cox, Chair of the ISO Translation Standards subcommittee, and Doug Lawrence, an expert on Translation and International Business.
TILT is a joint project between Bangor and Swansea Universities. It is led by the Language Technologies Unit at Canolfan Bedwyr, in partnership with the School of Modern Languages and Welsh for Adults at Bangor University. TILT is sponsored by the Welsh Government and the European Union’s ESF Programme as part of their Worked Based Learning Programme.
