REF 2014: High ranking success and research impact
Research by Bangor University’s School of Social Sciences has been highly ranked across several disciplines and placed in the top 20 in the UK. Research covered a broad range of areas including health, social policy, modern languages and history. In all areas over 76% of outputs were rated as world leading and internationally excellent; in health this rose to a spectacular 95% of outputs.
The School’s Director of Research, Professor Jane Noyes expressed her delight at the REF 2014 results: “Our research is world class and makes a real difference. The high ranking of research across several areas is particularly rewarding and reflects the multi-disciplinary nature of the School. Students benefit from the research undertaken within our School, which informs multi-disciplinary teaching across the University. It is also pleasing to see the impact of our research recognised in an international context.”
