"I’d like to congratulate everyone who took part in the Urdd Eisteddfod. Our students’ success at the festival testifies to the rich and energetic Welsh cultural life which contributes to making Bangor University such a special place. "
Gethin Morgan, Secretary of the Urdd Aelwyd said:
“The Aelwyd has had a busy year this year and the Urdd Eisteddfod is one of the activities which we prepare for. After winning the Inter-Collegiate Eisteddfod, we turned our attention to the Eisteddfod. It was nice to see 60 members on stage during the competition for large choirs, with everyone fully engaged. We're proud of the fact that all of our choirs were led by University students Huw Harvey, Rebecca Thomas and Liam Evans and we are grateful for their hard work and commitment to the Aelwyd. We have already turned our attention to the future, and are already planning for the new year in September.”
The Urdd Aelwyd provides some of the activities available through UMCB, Welsh Students' Union, who are the focus of much of the social events and activities organized in the Welsh University. UMCB also cares for the Welsh-speaking students, learners and anyone else interested in the Welsh language and culture during their time here in Bangor.
