Top 10 in the UK for Social Policy
Bangor University has been ranked as 8th in the UK – and top in Wales – for Social Policy, according to the latest subject league tables published by the Complete University Guide.
The tables are based on an overall score which takes into consideration entry standards, student satisfaction, research quality and graduate prospects. In the individual scores, Bangor’s School of Social Sciences ranks joint 10th for research quality in the field of Social Policy, and joint 4th for graduate prospects.
Bangor University also continues to demonstrate exceptional results for student satisfaction, with the institution raking within the UK top 10 – and no.1 in Wales – in this category.
“It is encouraging to see the breadth of our Social Policy provision recognised across several categories”, commented Professor Martina Feilzer, Head of the School of Social Sciences. “Our Housing Policy module has been accredited by the Chartered Institute of Housing and our Welsh medium Social Policy provision is unique in the UK. We are keen to build on this recognition of our existing strengths and continue to attract excellent students and staff.”
Dr Hefin Gwilym, Lecturer in Social Policy, has been the English-medium lead for Social Policy since 2015. He said: “It’s great to see the high level of support from our students. This is greatly appreciated by our committed and enthusiastic teachers and researchers”. Dr Myfanwy Davies, Senior Lecturer in Social Policy, added: ‘We are incredibly proud of our Welsh medium provision. It reflects our commitment to build our teaching around our students’ needs’.
The School of Social Sciences offers undergraduate, Masters and research programmes in the field of Social Policy.
