Aims of the School

Be forward looking and sustainable and aspire to achieving the University's Strategy 2030 pillars and themes and the University's Global Framework.

To prepare and support medical and health practitioners to engage in lifelong learning and reflective practice that will promote excellent standards in evidence-based practice.

To work in partnership with people who use services, medical and health care providers and agencies within Wales, but also cross-border, nationally and internationally on medical and health research, science, education, and scholarship.

To maintain excellence in medical and health care teaching, which is informed by research and coproduced by staff, students, service users and clinicians, whilst maintaining shared societal values and enhancing opportunities for employability.

To champion and promote scholarship, science and research applied to medical and health care policy and practice, in order to evaluate, develop and, wherever possible, improve professional practice.

To champion principles of intelligent kindness and compassionate leadership, adopting the most appropriate teaching and learning methods that offer students choice, flexibility, and provide inter-professional learning opportunities. Concurrently instilling respect for all professions, developing social and emotional intelligence and resilience.

To instil language and cultural competence in medical and health care practitioners.  To embed language and cultural awareness in medical and health care research and practice and respond sensitively to the language needs of Welsh speakers.

To lead research of the highest standard that improves lives and healthcare services regionally, nationally and globally.
