Overview
Glynwen has been a Product Design and Technology teacher since 2014 and more recently had the responsibility of being the Digital Technology subject Leader and coordinator within a secondary school in North Wales.
Glynwen graduated with a First Class Honours degree in BSc Design and Technology with Qualifying Teaching Status at Bangor University in 2014 and was awarded the Lloyd Jones Scholarship for performance and innovation. Since graduating Glynwen has taught in various Welsh and English language secondary schools across North Wales and has been committed to planning and developing learning programmes within the KS3 curriculum, KS4 Digital Technology courses, and Product Design up to KS5. Glynwen strongly believes in continuous professional development improving herself as an educator and is committed to pursuing lifelong learning. During her experiences as a supply teacher during her NQT year, she decided to study the Postgraduate Taught Masters Degree in Education Studies part-time at Bangor University from 2015 to 2019. Glynwen committed to the course part-time over 4 years whilst working full-time as a teacher.
Glynwen researched behaviour management during her Masters Degree. Her study consisted of newly qualified teachers which included observation sessions of KS3 classes which led to intervention sessions with teacher participants to promote positive behaviour within the classroom. Since graduating, Glynwen has focused on developing further leadership skills, promoting positive behaviour, and creating resources to enhance the student learning experience. She has also taken part in educational schemes such as Building Learning Power, Teacher Effectiveness Enhancement Programme, Outstanding Facilitator Program with OLEVI and a middle leader’s program with GwE. These have all given Glynwen opportunities to work effectively with other staff members, present on INSET days, be a subject mentor for associate teachers within CaBan and an external mentor for NQTs. In 2021, Glynwen became a Digital leader and co-ordinator in a secondary school within North Wales where she has gained experience evaluating pupil progress to raise standards and lead staff on digital learning.
Since October 2022, Glynwen has been pursuing her research interests and pedagogy in an EdD programme with the School of Educational Sciences at Bangor University. Her research includes managing learner motivation and engagement to enhance attainment in the classroom. Exploring teaching programmes which enhance learner motivation and design interventions to develop learner and teacher motivation within their education.
