Overview
Erdenebat Bataa is a Senior Lecturer in Economics and a member of the Responsible Banking research planning group of the Institute of European Finance (IEF) at Bangor. He is also an Academic Associate at the National Research and Consulting Center (NRCC), a think tank in Mongolia.
His administrative roles include the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences research ethics reviewer in Economics and Banking and the Bangor Business School's Undergraduate Academic Integrity Officer.
His research has appeared in many internationally recognized journals, such as The Review of Economics and Statistics (ABS-4), Oxford Bulletin of Economics and Statistics (ABS-3), and Energy Economics (ABS-3).
Erden holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Manchester (2007), where he started his career as an ESRC Postdoctoral Fellow (2007-2009).
He held research, teaching, visiting and leadership positions at Lancaster University (2009-2010), Korea University (2015-2016), the Economic Research Institute for Northeast Asia (Japan, 2019), and the National University of Mongolia (2010-2022). He is a former editor of Economics: Theory & Practice, the first double-blind peer-reviewed modern economics journal in Mongolia and the author of the first time series econometrics textbook in Mongolian.
Erden is a former external member of the Monetary Policy Committee of the Central Bank of Mongolia. Also, he has been a consultant to the Ministry of Finance of Mongolia and international organizations such as the Asian Development Bank and the World Bank.
