A friendly, student-centred place to study

Bangor's size and friendly nature mean it's easy to get to know people and our students tend to settle in easily.
Most of our buildings and student residences are a short walk from the city centre, where you will find a variety of national chain stores and smaller local businesses. Bangor has been recognised as one of the best places in the UK to be a student by various student surveys.
The Students' Union
Much of your social life at University will revolve around the Students' Union, which provides services, support, activities and entertainment for students. During Welcome Week the Students' Union organises a huge Freshers' Fair called Serendipity (it means happy meeting place) for you to choose from a range of opportunities and activities to make the most of your time at Bangor.
Entertainment and Social Life
Academi nightclub provides the focus for much of the night-time entertainment. As well as the nightclub, Academi has two bars, a café and a shop.
Bar Uno Café Bar provides a social hub for students and is an integral part of the Ffriddoedd site. It has three large screens and offers events including sports nights, pool tournaments and entertainment.
The Pontio centre is a social hub for students as well as an internationally significant centre for learning, innovation and the performing arts. In addition to being a home for our Students' Union, it includes a theatre, studio theatre, cinema, lecture theatres, exhibition spaces, bar and café.
Clubs and Societies
Joining in clubs, societies and volunteering is a great way for you to try new things and meet new people. Our Students’ Union has an extensive range - whether you're passionate about sports, arts, culture, or academic interests, there's a community waiting to welcome you.
