5 important things to do before arriving
Make sure you have accepted your offer! Go back into your application and 'accept' your offer.
To start your studies at Bangor you must complete your registration. Until you have done this, you will not have access to any online resources, e-mail etc. If you are coming from overseas, you should also ensure you carefully follow all instructions from the University regarding visas etc.

All induction sessions are compulsory.
Welcome week events were held in October. You may access recordings and slides from the sessions by logging into Blackboard and visiting the CoSE Postgraduate Research Blackboard Centre and accessing the CoSE PGR Induction October 2024 folder.
Make contact with your supervisor and arrange a meeting to discuss how to get started on your research.
Once you have registered, you can access your university email, and many other services, through MyBangor
It is very important that you check your Bangor University e-mail account, and keep checking it! This will be the primary means by which we and the University contact you.

Postgraduate researcher training courses
The Doctoral School provide a wide range of training and development events.
PGRs are often welcome to attend lectures or access module materials – those for 3rd year undergraduate and master’s students will usually be most relevant. If you are interested in attending some or all of a module as a non-assessed participant, contact the module organizer.
Currently meeting via Teams some Wednesdays at 11am, and interacting regularly on Teams chat to share tips/help each other. A chance to discuss R problems and solutions with fellow users, where everyone contributes and everyone learns something. To join the R Users Bangor Team contact Dr Jenny Shepperson.
There is training available for those PGRs doing teaching, including the PGCertHE.
If you are interested in doing research through the medium of Welsh, there is training you can attend.
