What is our Brand Narrative?

Our brand is the manifestation of who we are. It is the things that we say and do. The authentic representation of our culture, values and impact on the world. And it is the experience that people have of and with us. Our brand narrative, then, is the summary and expression of:

Who should use our brand narrative?

The brand narrative guidelines are for anyone who represents the voice of the University by delivering experiences such as teaching and research, writing about us, producing communications, giving presentations, and talking to other people about us. Every member of the Bangor University community has a role to play in expressing our brand. 

Take this narrative and use it as a basis to communicate all aspects of the University.

We must also adapt our narrative to talk to the interests and needs of our specific audiences.  Here you will find insights and key messages, backed with evidence examples for different stakeholder groups.

Why use the Brand Narrative?

A recognisable brand that powerfully conveys an organisation’s purpose and values can fast-track a person to trust us. These guidelines are about creating such brand consistency as a trusted and known expression of who we are. By following the blueprint that it sets out, you are helping to position our institution as recognisable, credible and trustworthy. The content of these pages should become the foundation of your communications when speaking about all aspects of the University.

How was it created?

The guidelines were created through a collaborative and research-led process, that brought together representatives from the communities that influence and benefit from our work. This included extensive consultations in Welsh and English with University staff and students, and audiences including prospective students, alumni, businesses, research partners, and community partners. The brand book is a product of their collective voices, views, experiences and values, combined with our own strategy and aspirations.

When we are talking about the University, It's important that we are clear about our purpose and define why we do what we do:

We speak about the University as a global community that is powered by our common spirit. This speaks of:

Brand Pillars and Values

Our brand narrative can be further defined by the following brand pillars and values. These can be interweaved into the narrative when talking about the University.
