Train to Teach Mindfulness

Postgraduate Taught Mindfulness Courses

You can train to teach MBSR or MBCT and gain a Master's degree at the same time on our part-time Masters programme which is designed to fit in alongside your work commitments. You come to Bangor five weekends a year and can study from home the rest of the year.

Teacher Training Pathway (TTP)

Although the TTP is offered in collaboration with The Mindfulness Network, all training will be delivered by the Bangor training team using the CMRP curriculum, and you will receive a Bangor University certificate.

The TTP is a flexible and progressive training route that will provide you with a certification of competency from Bangor University to teach Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction (MBSR) or Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT). As you progress, you will build a comprehensive portfolio of training events, teaching experience and personal reflection alongside a deepening of your personal mindfulness practice. You will be assigned a mentor who will offer you practical support and guidance throughout your journey and, following initial training, you will begin to teach under the guidance of a recommended mindfulness-based supervisor. The TTP takes 3-4 years to complete if you have not done any mindfulness teacher training prior to starting.

If you’re still not sure whether the Master’s or the TTP is right for you, you can watch a helpful YouTube video which explains the similarities and differences between Bangor University's mindfulness teacher training routes.

Stand-alone Courses

Although stand-alone teacher training courses are offered in collaboration with The Mindfulness Network, all courses are delivered by the Bangor training team using the CMRP curriculum.

Stand-alone teacher training courses are for your continuing personal and professional development and can be taken at your own pace.

  • Come to training events that suit you
  • All TTP events are available to be taken as stand-alone events (as long as you meet criteria for those events)
  • No formal assessment
  • Stand-alone events can count towards the TTP, if you later wish to register.
