The Confucius Institute at Bangor University hosted a Two day of online International Law Forum, addressing current obligations under the broad umbrella of International Climate Change Law. The Forum brought together academics from China, the USA, and the UK and encouraged debate and exchange of ideas between delegates at all levels.
On behalf of the organisers, Lina Davitt, Director of Bangor University's Confucius Institute, commented:
‘It was such a lively forum with so many interesting conversations, highlighting that although individual countries are working hard to implement climate change laws, there is still a lot to do regarding the need for global collaboration and research that informs policymakers. However, it became obvious that the international law community is ambitious and enthusiastic about working towards legislation that can potentially slow down the human contribution to the inevitable climate change.’
Feedback from delegates was overwhelmingly positive, and the Confucius Institute plans to make this an annual event!
‘The event was well organised, with various interesting and closely related topics. Even though it had to be conducted online, the live stream went well, and attendees could communicate and exchange ideas. Thanks to everyone who put it together.’
‘The forum was a great opportunity to share and learn about the impacts of climate change on different areas of international law. I enjoyed the discussions that were lively and stimulating.’
‘Hope to see more events like this coming!’
