Overview
In this course, you will explore the fundamental concepts, theories, and debates in moral philosophy and develop a deeper understanding of the ethical frameworks that underpin our moral judgments.
As part of this module, you will undertake an independent research project on a topic of your choice related to ethical theory. You will receive guidance and support from experienced supervisors, who will help you to develop your research skills and navigate complex ethical debates.
Possible topics for your research project might include metaethics, normative ethics, applied ethics, virtue ethics, deontological ethics, consequentialist ethics, or any other aspect of moral philosophy that interests you.

Learning Outcomes
- Design and undertake a programme of detailed research leading to the written presentation of conclusions in the form of an essay
- Participate in curent debates concerning issues relating to philosophy and or religious studies.
- Read critically both primary and secondary texts relating to specific and abstract principles of philosophy and or religious studies

Description
For the assessment component of this Ethical Theory and Moral Philosophy module, students will undertake an independent study of 5000 words on a topic of their choosing within the field of ethical theory. This assessment is designed to provide students with an opportunity to explore an area of interest in greater depth and to develop their research and analytical skills. To begin, students will be asked to select a topic that they are passionate about and that aligns with the learning outcomes of the module. They will then be expected to conduct independent research, using a variety of academic sources, to develop a well-reasoned and well-supported argument related to their chosen topic.
