Bangor Law student wins prestigious Lincoln’s Inn scholarship

A Bangor Law student has been awarded a prestigious scholarship to pursue her ambition to become a Barrister.Third year student Kate Longson has been awarded a scholarship to study the BPTC at Lincoln's Inn

Kate Longson, a third year student on the LLB Law programme, will receive the Hardwicke Entrance Award worth £300 towards the cost of studying the Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC) with Lincoln’s Inn. The scholarship covers the cost of joining the Inn, all dining charges for the duration of study, and Call fees upon completion of the BPTC.

“To win this scholarship in such a competitive field is a huge confidence boost” said Kate, from Staffordshire. “We are told there is a one in five chance of being successful, so to have such a prestigious institution choose to invest in me and my future is a great feeling.”

She added: “the personal approach of Bangor Law School was a definite advantage when it came to applying to Lincoln’s Inn. It was good to be able to sit down with the Head of School and go through my application, something that I would not have been able to do in a bigger School. The fact that staff have a practical knowledge of their subject is also a great help – having worked as legal practitioners, they know what they’re talking about”.

Kate has also been invited to interview for a further scholarship – worth up to £17,000 – in March, which will contribute towards her course fees if successful.
