Quantitative Data – Survey Design – data collection and analysis
This session will provide attendees who are planning to use survey research in their postgraduate research with an insight into questions of survey design, sampling techniques, and basic analysis.
Researchers will be introduced to the purpose, advantages and limitations of the use of surveys including questions of administration (online, postal, telephone, or face to face), question order, response options, etc. It will also discuss principles of data analysis and introduce basic analytical techniques.
The workshop is designed for PhD candidates who are intending to use surveys for research on public opinion and public attitudes – it is not designed for those wanting to undertake psychometric testing or more advanced psychological research.
