As previously noted, 2024 marks the 140th Anniversary of Bangor University, celebrating 140 years of academic excellence, global impact, and transformative student experiences. The theme this year is to celebrate the best of Bangor University’s rich history and to showcase the University’s achievements, with schools showcasing their research and their work, through various activities.
Professor Andrew Edwards, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Welsh Language, Civic Engagement and Strategic Partnerships, said, “The University's presence on the Eisteddfod field, Y Maes, is one of the most notable highlights of the annual calendar, and it’s great to visit Pontypridd. The Eisteddfod provides a platform for us to offer a flavour of the richness, creativity and range of innovative work being carried out by the University in the context of the Welsh language and bilingualism in Wales. I’m delighted that staff and students across the University have once again responded enthusiastically to the event to showcase with a packed and varied programme of activities and events. Our contribution to the Eisteddfod is a testament to the quality and range of expertise that exists here in Bangor, and is a celebration of our key contribution to the growth of the Welsh language socially, culturally and economically.”
Gwenan Hine, University Secretary, said, “We can’t wait to attend the National Eisteddfod, and to showcase the University as part of the Eisteddfod in Rhondda Cynon Taf. If you’re visiting Y Maes, a warm welcome will be waiting for you, call by our stand and meet colleagues, prospective and current students and alumni and take part in our exciting programme of activities! We are very grateful to colleagues and students who will be working throughout the week to promote Bangor University. Good luck to all Bangor students and staff performing or competing at the event!”
