This is a talk between Dr Edward Jones (Business and Economics) and Dr Gareth Evans-Jones (Philosophy and Religion) regarding two spaces that appear to be contradictory, namely “tai potas” (taverns) and “tai Duw” (chapels). The session will look at that which binds Genesis and Guinness, the spiritual singing and the rousing of songs, in the context of the roots of BOTH community taverns and Nonconformist chapels.

Join Osian Gwynn (Pontio Arts Director) for a panel discussion looking at the contribution of culture and the arts to regenerate our rural communities. The panel will discuss the current situation, the barriers and opportunities for the future.
Panel discussion hosted by the National Centre of Religious Education for Wales. With one of the Centre’s directors, Dr Gareth Evans-Jones, chairing, the panel will consider the attitudes of our society that demonstrate how we do live in a tolerant period, but also those examples of intolerant views which exist. By considering matters such as religion, cultures, sexuality, and ‘alternative’ identities, Siân Melangell Dafydd (English Creative Writing, Bangor University), Malachy Edwards, Kayley Roberts, and Dr Gareth Evans-Jones will discuss this important subject.
Join the Sebra imprint of Atebol as we celebrate the publication of a brand new short stories volume: Ar Amrantiad. Following a short stories competition that was held earlier this year, Dr Gareth Evans-Jones selected three award-winning stories to be included in a new book, side-by-side with stories written by published authors, namely, Jon Gower, Fflur Dafydd, Siân Melangell Dafydd (English Creative Writing in Bangor) and Gareth Evans-Jones. The volume is full of interesting works and significant voices, and this will be a real celebration in the company of various contributors.
