Bangor Fund supports visit to the Stanley Kubrick Archive
The Bangor Fund administered by the Development and Alumni Relations Office has enabled a group of ten Kubrick fans from the Department of English Literature, Creative Writing, Film, Media and Journalism in the School of Arts, Culture and Language to explore the Stanley Kubrick Archive at the University of Arts London. The students were taking the module Stanley Kubrick: Producer and Director taught by Professor Nathan Abrams.
The undergraduate students were shown around the Archives and Special Collections Centre, where they saw Kubrick memorabilia, including Danny Torrance’s red Converse shoes from The Shining. They also had an opportunity to handle original materials from Kubrick’s films and peek into the strong room where they are stored.
Professor Nathan Abrams of School of Arts, Culture and Language, said, “I’ve been visiting the Stanley Kubrick Archive since 2012 and it was great to share this experience with my students and I am grateful that the Bangor Fund gave me that opportunity.”
Madalin Matthewson, a second-year Film Studies and Production student, added, “The Stanley Kubrick archives were awesome and the staff were very friendly and helpful. It was a great experience for anyone who loves Kubrick and his movies.”
Persida Chung, Development Officer, added, "We are always happy to support projects like these and we are very grateful for our generous donors for their continuous support so we can provide worthwhile student experience."
