Using the Outdoors to Promote Wellbeing
A group of 15 Staff Wellbeing Champions recently spent the afternoon at Treborth Botanic Garden learning how to use our natural environment to enhance wellbeing. The training session was led by Charlotte Keen, and included a nature-based mindfulness session and creative exercises that used all five senses to explore the beautiful surroundings.
Phoebe Shanahan, HR Wellbeing Champion said, “It was a lovely to meet as a network in-person and connect with nature. Charlotte was so informative, and this was a great reminder of the power of the outdoors in alleviating stress. The meet-up also gave the Champions an opportunity to share details of green spaces that are tucked away around the University – such the outdoor gym behind the Rathbone Building and the Healing Garden on Ffriddoedd Road – it’s great to explore these accessible spaces where we can rest or exercise with colleagues.”
