Judge Dr Zhen Tang
Dr Tang will already be known to some of you, from his time as a Chevening Scholar at Bangor University, studying on our specialist LLM in Intellectual Property Law (for which he was awarded a distinction). We are delighted to confirm that Dr Tang is keen to continue his association and research with us, and is to become an Honorary Research Associate.
Dr Tang previously served as the Presiding Judge (Intellectual Property Division) of the Shanghai No 1 Intermediate People's Court from 2010; and has, since January 2018, been the Deputy Chief Judge (Intellectual Property Division) of the Shanghai High People's Court.
Dr Tang studied Law at Shanghai University, East China University of Political Science and Law, and was awarded his PhD by Zhejiang University. Since 2016, he has been a Part-Time Law Tutor at Jiaotong University, Tongji University, and East China University of Political Science and Law. He is also a supervisor at the Shanghai Judge Training Centre.
Dr Tang is responsible for all types of intellectual property law cases, including patents, copyright, trademarks, and unfair competition disputes. He is currently researching protection of trade secrets and network platform monopolies in China. Through his research, he hopes to strengthen his exchanges with his UK counterparts, as well as promote the exchange of Chinese and British judicial culture. Alongside this article is a photo of Dr Tang, as well as a picture of Dr Tang with His Honour Judge Hacon, the Presiding Judge of the Intellectual Property Enterprise Court, at the Rolls Building of London.
