'Documentary in Wales'
A new book on documentary production has been described as a ‘landmark in the literature on cinema and broadcasting in Wales’. Documentary in Wales: Cultures and Practices includes individual chapters by Geraint Ellis and Joanna Wright from the School of Languages, Literatures, Linguistics and Media, both of whom have written about their own experiences as documentary makers. Geraint’s chapter focuses on television arts documentaries, and the challenge of trying to appeal to as wide an audience as possible in this particular area. Joanna deals with interactive, immersive and digital documentary practice and her ongoing production work. The volume also includes contributions from ten other documentary makers and academics who have worked in Wales. The publishers are Peter Lang, and the book is edited by Dafydd Sills-Jones and Elin Haf Gruffydd Jones. It is part of a series of volumes, entitled Documentary Film Cultures, examining documentary traditions across the world.
