Lecturer wins the Playwright Medal
Congratulations to our Dr Gareth Evans-Jones who is a lecturer in Religious Studies for being awarded the Playwright Medal in the AmGen National Eisteddfod this year, and for the second time. The competition asked for a play for either the stage or screen on any topic. Gareth wrote a stage play called Cadi Ffan a Jan (Cadi Fan and Jan), which explores various themes, such as relationships, unexpected friendships, familial bonds, identity, and society. The adjudicator was Gwennan Mair Jones, Clwyd Theatre's Director of Creative Engagement.
As Gareth says, ‘It was such a shock to win for the second time. I had the initial idea for the script back in September 2020 and the characters appealed to me greatly. Winning the Medal again is so humbling and I’m extremely thankful for all of the kind messages of congratulations.’
The hope is that the play will be developed with a professional theatre company.
