Undergraduates are Poland-bound for Volunteer Engagement study programme
Six undergraduates from the School of Social Sciences will travel to Lodz, Poland in November, thanks to a EU-funded scheme.
Robyn Callacombe, Vicky Freeth, Nicole Hughes, Curtis Lennon, Sian Roberts and Callum Taylor will attend a 10-day Erasmus Intensive Programme on the theme of ‘Volunteer Engagement in Europe’.
Accompanied by Professor Catherine Robinson, Head of School, and Mr Hefin Gwilym, Lecturer in Social Policy, the Bangor group will study alongside students from Germany, Finland, Spain and Poland, acquiring new knowledge and skills in the area of volunteering. Specifically, the programme will focus on volunteering in the context of social change in Poland since the end of the communist era.
The students will also visit statutory agencies and NGOs (non-governmental organisations) working in the social field in Lodz, including those related to homelessness.
Social Sciences students attended a similar programme in Nuremberg, Germany, in 2012, thanks to the European Union’s Erasmus scheme.
