Successful 2nd Pan Wales Sport, Health and Exercise Sciences PhD conference
Bangor recently hosted the 2nd Pan Wales Sport, Health and Exercise Sciences PhD conference and welcomed over 50 PhD researchers from across Wales. The conference was developed as a result of the desire to increase collaborative research within Sport, Health and Exercise Science within Wales, as well as the highly successful ESRC Wales Doctoral Training Pathway in Sport and Exercise Science. Over the two days the conference provided postgraduates with an opportunity to meet, network, and present their research findings.
The focus of the conference is very much on research training and developing postgraduate students into high quality researchers and delegates attended research training sessions on topics such as the REF, power and sample size estimation, as well as running an “ask the panel” session with participants able to ask anything about research and research training which lead to some excellent debate and insights.
Conference organiser Dr Ross Roberts (SSHES) said “the past two days have been fantastic. It has been great to see so many high quality young researchers presenting and discussing their research in a supportive and friendly environment. The research training sessions have also gone down really well, with students really appreciative of the development opportunities. We’re all looking forward to next year now!”
