
Where are you from? I am originally from London, but have lived in north Wales since 1971.
What is the subject of your doctoral research project? Elections in the Anglesey and Caernarfonshire constituencies between 1689 and 1832.
Tell us about your career so far and what led you to ISWE and your doctoral research project? I have been the world’s oldest au pair, a professional chef, ran a restaurant and spent many years as a Psychiatric Nurse before retiring.
What is your proudest achievement? Being in the final of Mastermind.
Your favourite place in Wales? Portmeirion.
Can you recommend any books, TV shows, podcasts, blogs that you have enjoyed recently? Marcus Aurelius’ Meditations.
What are your hobbies or favourite extracurricular activities? Have you got any other interesting projects on the go? I cook historical food, eighteenth-century American ‘Pioneer Food’, recreate Carême dishes, make my own cheese, butter and corned beef. I also embroider, make clothes and quilt. And I enjoy playing online poker.
