Message from the University
All of us at Bangor University have been shocked and saddened by the horrific incident that led to the death of George Floyd, and the deeply disturbing events that followed.
Social justice, equality, inclusion and respect are all values which we hold dear at Bangor. We are proud to be a community which welcomes people of all backgrounds and persuasions, and together with our Students’ Union, we have developed a zero-tolerance approach to all forms of racism, hate crime and harassment.
However, as we have seen, the battle against inequality, injustice and prejudice continues. No community is perfect, and that includes universities, but we are working together with our staff, students and Students’ Union to deliver the changes which are so urgently needed in the world.
Our website provides information about the ways in which we maintain and enhance Bangor’s inclusive community including signposts to support and advice, information on how we promote equality and details about how we maintain a safe campus – all of which is particularly relevant at this time.
As a university community of staff and students we stand as one to celebrate our diversity and challenge injustices. Racism and discrimination must not continue to plague our society.
