UKRI Future Leaders Fellowships: Open to external applicants
Background to the call
Round 8 of the Future Leader Fellowships was recently announced by UKRI, with a deadline of 4th July 2023.
Future Leaders Fellowships look to support ambitious research or innovation across UKRI’s remit. They are personal awards to support fellows to develop as impactful and influential leaders in research or innovation who are either:
- looking to establish or transition to independence
- developing their own original and ambitious plans within a commercial setting.
There is no minimum or maximum award value, and the project can last up to four years, with the option to apply to renew for a further three years. The scheme aims to develop, retain, attract, and sustain research and innovation talent in the UK through funding individuals who can demonstrate the potential to become leading academics in their field.
Future Leader Fellowships at Bangor University
There is an institutional limit of 2 applications; therefore, the Integrated Research and Impact Support (IRIS) team will be running an internal selection process with a first deadline of 17th April (submission of candidate CVs to assess eligibility).
Bangor welcomes and encourages external applicants to apply for a Future Leader Fellowship to be hosted at Bangor, where we will support you in establishing and developing your career. Prospective external candidates who meet the eligibility criteria of the scheme should seek the support of a relevant academic school in the first instance. You are strongly advised to contact appropriate members of staff as soon as possible to informally discuss the proposed project and opportunities at Bangor.
Both internal and external candidates must follow the internal selection process outlined below. For further information on this, please contact IRIS: k.high@bangor.ac.uk
