Alumni donations support Undeb Bangor videos
In October 2022, Undeb Bangor (Bangor University’s Students’ Union) put an application in to The Bangor Fund to fund a project to create compelling, high-quality videos of student groups for a variety of marketing purposes. They were awarded £5,299 in November 2022 and set about engaging the services of a professional filming and editing company, who ultimately captured the essence of the Bangor University student experience including our high-quality facilities and sense of community, belonging and team spirit.
The idea behind the bid was that by enhancing advertising materials, the Undeb could effectively highlight the diverse range of activities available to students and portray the vibrant student life that Bangor University offers, as well as the beautiful location. These videos have already become an essential tool for student recruitment as well as making current students aware of the multitude of opportunities at their disposal.
The footage has already been showcased during Open Days and will be shared with relevant departments, integrated into promotional activities during the welcome period, and consistently utilised throughout the year for general recruitment efforts.
Having an archive of videos of student clubs and societies has resulted in faster results for the University’s central marketing team, eliminating delays with the process of contacting the clubs and scheduling and recording footage. An example of this is the use of footage of the Paddleboard Club which was used in the marketing team’s Open Day promotional YouTube video, viewed 9,800 times in two months.
Tiffany Ferrier, UK Recruitment Officer Campaigns, UK Recruitment and Admissions, said “The clubs and societies video content project has proven invaluable to our central recruitment advertising campaigns. It has been used in all of our video assets for Clearing and promoted across Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, YouTube, Connected TV and on third party provider websites. It showcases the Bangor experience beautifully.”
Emma Marshall, Head of Development and Alumni Relations, said “This is a project that the Bangor Fund was keen to support as these videos bring the student experience to life and benefit the University as a whole.”
