Bangor University / BIBF Alumnus of the Year 2024
For 20 years, Bangor University’s Business School has enjoyed a successful partnership with the Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF). The programme enables students to study a foundation year and the first two years of their qualification in Bahrain and complete their final year in Bangor to gain their undergraduate degree.
In 2016, the Bangor University / BIBF Alumnus of the Year Award was established. The award was set up to acknowledge the achievements of our shared alumni and to recognise an alumnus of the programme each year who has achieved professional distinction in their chosen field.
During the annual alumni reunion held on 18 November 2024 on the terrace of the BIBF Headquarters in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Duaa AlMasqati was announced as the Bangor University / BIBF Alumnus of the Year 2024.
Duaa graduated from Bangor University in 2009 with a degree in Banking and Finance. She is Senior Strategic Execution Manager and Team Lead at the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG), based in Manama.
In her role she manages the development, production and delivery of the whole strategic projects portfolio, building and maintaining of relationships with various external stakeholders in the industry covering the Financial Services, Capital Markets, Islamic Finance, Risk & Compliance and Sustainable Finance industries. She is a certified Project Management Professional, a qualified Social Media Strategist and has previously worked for Thomson Reuters, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), American Express and Standard Chartered Bank.
On being presented with her award by Prof. Andrew Edwards, Bangor University’s Pro Vice-Chancellor, Duaa said “Thank you for this great honour. I chose my degree as I wanted to experience both studying at home and abroad. Bangor University had a great reputation and its affiliation with the BIBF demonstrated the quality of financial professionals and the topics are relevant to the Bahrain financial market. I gained a lot of independence during my time at Bangor, and interacting with so many people from different cultures and backgrounds was definitely an advantage for me. I truly appreciate the recognition by the University and the BIBF.”
Emma Marshall, Head of Development and Alumni Relations at Bangor University, said “Many congratulations to Duaa. We at Bangor University and our colleagues at BIBF are delighted to acknowledge her achievements with our Bangor University / BIBF Alumnus of the Year award. The programme has produced some great alumni and Duaa is a brilliant example of the calibre of those who study with us”.
