B-Enterprising hosts ‘The Story of an Entrepreneur’
Recently, Bangor students and staff enjoyed a presentation from a panel of four entrepreneurs who presented their experience of starting and running a successful business and the highs and lows of self-employment and entrepreneurialism.
Speaking on the panel were Ffion Llwyd-Jones from FLJ Media, Gaz Thomas from The Game Homepage, Rhys Mwyn of Anrhefn Records and Elliw Ellis-Davies of Atom PR. They each had very different stories to tell but the common experience shared was of how their personal passions and preference for self-directed working led to creation of a business idea. All presenters are Dynamo Role Models – Welsh business owners who will come to talk for free to would-be young entrepreneurs to give them a flavour of what it’s like to be their own boss.
Rhys Mwyn from Anrhefn Records said ‘.. all Dynamo role models have different stories – mine through the music industry is quite unconventional so I’m really in it to inspire people. The benefits for us as role models is doing something positive, putting something back in …
Director of FLJ Media, Ffion Llwyd-Jones said regarding her Dynamo Role Model work ‘.. the work is very varied. We do it because we want to give back. Throughout my life I’ve had mentors who’ve helped me so that’s what I do through Dynamo’.
Following the presentations the panel had time to take questions from members of the audience – many of whom had ambitions towards business start up and were able to gain some interesting insights into working for themselves.
‘The Story of an Entrepreneur’ is one of a series of events hosted by the B-Enterprising Project at the Careers & Employability Service
