Bangor Law School to hold Career Fair
Bangor University Law School is to hold its first ever Law Fair for the benefit of current and prospective students.
Taking place in Reichel Hall on Wednesday, 27 November, the event will give students from twelve local schools a rare opportunity to discuss their career options with practising barristers, solicitors and in-house lawyers. The guest of honour will be Sir Roderick Evans, a retired High Court Judge and former Presiding Judge of Wales.
Attending the Fair will be representatives from Atlantic Chambers, Civitas Chambers, Linenhall Chambers, Carter Vincent Jones Davis, Gamlins, Hugh James, Knox Commercial, Stephensons, Gwynedd Council, the Magistrates’ Association, Globe Business Publishing (LawCareers.Net), Pearson Publishing, Bangor Students’ Law Society, Bangor University Careers Department, and Winning in Tendering (Public Procurement Research Project, Bangor Law School).
There will be various breakout sessions during the course of the day, including a mock trial which will be presided over by Sir Roderick Evans; together with a session dedicated to encouraging students to study the core law modules through the medium of Welsh.
“We are most grateful to all of the exhibitors for their support in this, our first ever Law Fair” said Professor Dermot Cahill, Head of Bangor Law School. “Bangor Law School is fully committed to trying out new ventures to enhance the student experience. The Fair is in addition to our very successful internship programme, where we place students with firms and chambers to get valuable pre-graduation work experience.”
Schools who wish to participate should contact Gwilym Owen at Bangor Law School (john.g.owen@bangor.ac.uk).
