Professor Graham Upton the University’s Interim Vice-Chancellor welcomed the news saying:
“The fact that Bangor University has been nominated for eight Whatuni awards as a result of our students’ opinions is a testament to our efforts to provide students with an excellent all-round student experience. Our students are at the heart of all that we do and I’m particularly thrilled by the fact that these nominations cover all aspects of the student experience; from academic provision and support, to accommodation and the leisure activities offered by our excellent SU clubs and societies.”
Professor Carol Tully, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Students), said:
“We’re delighted that our students have given us such a resounding ‘round of applause leading to these nominations. We work in partnership with our Students’ Union and with our students to ensure that their time at Bangor University is both enjoyable and rewarding. This is a wonderful acknowledgement of the hard work done across the University and the SU.”
As well as bringing home two Awards last year, the University was placed second in the UK for Courses and Lecturers and third in the overall University of the Year category.
Katie Duncan, Head of Communications at IDP Connect, who organise the awards, said:
"In a challenging climate for Higher Education institutions, there is nothing more rewarding than being recognised by their students for delivering such positive experiences. The reviews by current students that make up these nominations are invaluable for prospective students who use them to make decisions about their future."
The official 2019 Whatuni Student Rankings will be announced on 25 of April at a ceremony in London. You can follow all the action on the night with the hashtag #WUSCA.
