Bangor University welcomes Central College

Marc Putnam, President of Central College (right) with Professor John G Hughes, Vice-chancellor.Bangor University welcomed a delegation from Central College, Iowa in March. Delegates had an opportunity to see the facilities on campus, meet with staff and formally re-sign a partnership agreement.

Central College is a long-standing study abroad partner of Bangor University. The College is a university-based study abroad provider for undergraduate students from colleges and universities throughout the US. The College offers programs in eight worldwide locations where students can choose to study for a summer, semester or year. Bangor University is one of these unique locations.

Tecwyn Jones who is the Regional Director of Central College, based in Bangor commented:

“Central College has had a presence in Bangor University for 37 years. Over 225 students have gone through the study abroad programme since the regional office was established in Bangor in 2005. This year there were 63 students on the programme so it is of great significance that we are re-signing the partnership agreement.”

Marc Putnam, President of Central College met with Central Students at the University in Bangor and commented:

“Students express so much affection for Bangor, they have found a second home in Wales. This is understandable as Bangor feels like home, although we have only been here a short time. No college or university can be self-sufficient. Collaboration and partnership is the way forward, so I am re-signing our partnership agreement with great ambition.”

Bangor University and Central College, Iowa staff.The renewed agreement with Central College will now enable Bangor University’s Sport Science students to have a study abroad experience in Iowa, as well as hosting students from Central College in Bangor.

Professor John G Hughes, Bangor University Vice Chancellor said:

“Through our internationalization strategy we want our students to enjoy a diverse cultural experience. This is something that we can work to achieve through our collaboration with Central College.”
