Canolfan Brailsford opens
This Saturday (5 July) at 8.30, the public will get their first view of the newly extended Sports Centre at Bangor University.
Renamed Canolfan Brailsford, the Sport Centre will reopen, having been closed for the last two weeks for the final touches of a year-long remodelling and refurbishment project, and an investment of £2.5 million.
The refurbished University Sports facilities include a brand new two-storey gym, a new aerobics studio, the complete replacement and upgrade of the public changing rooms and showers, and a new floor in the main sports hall.
This is part of a wider investment in sports facilities at Bangor University which includes the new £.5 million indoor tennis and netball facility at Bangor University's Sport Centre, opened by Lord Coe in November, and a third-generation artificial pitch at Bangor City FC’s ground at Nantporth, which will be home to both University student teams and a host of community clubs from September.
Bangor’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor John G Hughes, said: “Bangor has recently invested millions of pounds in developing new academic and social facilities for students, making it an even more attractive place to study.”
