Concert contributes to Urdd Fund
As a result of a Grand Concert held by Bangor University at the Prichard-Jones Hall, the University’s Vice Chancellor, Prof John G Hughes presented a cheque for £2,242 to Bryn Tomos, Chairman, Bangor Appeal Committee for the Urdd National Eisteddfod at Glynllifon.
The special fund raising evening of entertainment provided a stage for a wealth of talent in the region. A varied line-up that suited everyone’s musical persuasion saw enthralling performances by Ysgol Tryfan Jazz Band, Bangor City Male Voice Choir, Penrhyn Male Voice Choir, Syr John Morris Jones Hall Choir, Casi Wyn, John Eifion, Menai Bridge Brass Band, Ysgol y Garnedd and percussionist, Dewi Elis Jones.
Urdd representative, Bryn Tomos said:
"We are extremely grateful to the University for organising the event and we’re very appreciative of the contribution. We are indebted to the Vice-Chancellor for giving us the free use of the Prichard-Jones Hall for this event, and on many other occasions for us to hold fundraising events the Eisteddfod."
Professor John G Hughes, who attended the Concert said: “I was very impressed with the excellent quality and wide range of musical talents that we have locally and am pleased that the University is able to support and make a contribution towards such an important cultural event.”
