Côr Glanaethwy through to the final of Britain’s Got Talent
Congratulations to Côr Glanaethwy on topping the public vote on Monday night's live semi final of Britain’s Got Talent. Following their success, the 160-strong choir will compete in the final of the ITV talent programme on Sunday evening.
Cefin Roberts, the choir’s musical director is from Bangor and is also a research student at the School of Welsh, Bangor University. Ysgol Glanaethwy was founded in 1990 by Cefin and his wife Rhian to offer performing opportunities to children and young adults of north Wales. The performing school has since been hugely successful nationally and internationally, and Bangor University has recognised their achievement by awarding the couple Honorary Fellowships.
In 2008 the adult choir in Ysgol Glanaethwy came second in the final of a BBC talent show Last Choir Standing. The current choir have members ranging from seven to 70 years old. Among the members are some Bangor University staff and current students, and we wish them well in Britain’s Got Talent final live show on Sunday night.
