Bangor University’s Athletic Union President, Danielle Giles, has been chosen as one of four UK representatives to the 11th FISU Forum (International University Sports Federation) which will held in Taipei City, China from the 26 - 31 March.
British University College Sport (BUCS) will be represented by four delegates, two staff and two students. Danielle was selected as one of the UK student representatives following a competitive process.
Proud to have been selected, Danielle said:
“I'm hoping to learn a great deal that will influence how we support and extend sport at Bangor University. The international nature of the event will provide a fantastic opportunity to develop greater knowledge and understanding of subjects involving education, culture and sport by learning about best practice from elsewhere.”
The FISU Forum is a biennial gathering of students and staff/senior figures involved in university sport from around the world. Great Britain has been represented at each of the previous eight Forums.
The Forum offers delegates from all nations the opportunity to compare the university sport programmes and provision within different countries, as well as to discuss the role of FISU and its sporting programme. Each day contains conference-style discussions, workshops and presentations, as well as cultural excursions.
The main theme of the forum will be 'University Sport a Platform for Sustainable Development.
