EX- FOREIGN SECRETARY IN CONVERSATION

At Bangor University recently (Thursday 24 March) former Cabinet Minister David Miliband talked candidly about his life and career.   Mr Miliband – who was tipped to be a future Prime Minister but has now stepped aside from front-line politics – was Foreign Secretary from 2007 to 2010, and was Secretary of State for the Environment, Food & Rural Affairs before that.

During ‘An Evening with David Miliband’, at Bangor University, Mr Miliband was interviewed about his life and career, his views on world affairs and the current situation in North Africa and the Middle East and his defeat by his brother Ed for the Labour leadership, and on matters outside politics. He has recently become Vice-Chair of Sunderland FC.

 David Miliband is no stranger to the university environment. His father Ralph Miliband was a prominent socialist intellectual who was Professor of Political science at Leeds University. David Miliband himself gained a first class honours degree from Oxford, followed by postgraduate study at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (the Kennedy School), where he gained an MSc degree in Political Science.
