Head of School Jamie Macdonald speaking at the Welsh Assembly in Cardiff
Jamie Macdonald, Head of the School of Sport, Health and Exercise Sciences at Bangor University, joined The Physiological Society, Assembly Members, Sport Wales, and Public Health Wales for a celebration event and group panel discussion at the Welsh Assembly in Cardiff.
The event was organised in response to recent findings by The Physiological Society revealing that 750,000 welsh jobs employ sport and exercise science graduates, and Welsh employers post 2,500 jobs annually requiring sport and exercise science skills. Jamie was speaking specifically about adventure tourism. Jamie said: “At Bangor University we are upskilling our graduates to meet the needs of employers, particularly adventure tourism businesses. Sport and Exercise Science and Adventure Tourism is ideally positioned to help Wales and the UK tackle health and economic inequality; our graduates are ideally equipped to maximise the opportunities that Wales’ natural environment offers to participate in physical activity”.
