North Wales International Poetry Festival
The North Wales International Poetry Festival returns for a fourth time in 2015, with a series of readings and performances in Aberystwyth and Bangor October 7th-10th. Events will take place in both universities and at local venues. International poets will perform alongside Welsh writers with translations into English and Welsh.
Zoë Skoulding, the festival's Bangor University co-director, said: "Visiting poets bring different languages and perspectives that help us to see our own culture in new ways, and the continued presence of this festival is helping to build exciting connections between writers and audiences. This year we have a special focus on Croatia as well as poets from Latvia, Slovenia and Spain. We hope these events will provide a chance to encounter poetry in new ways, whether through discussions with the authors about their books, multimedia presentations, or the vitality of the live poetry reading."
North Wales International Poetry Festival is hosted by Bangor and Aberystwyth Universities in cooperation with Literature Across Frontiers, Poetry Wales and Wales PEN, and with support from the Arts Council of Wales, Creative Europe Programme of the European Union, Croatian Writers’ Association and Ministry of Culture of Croatia, Latvian Literature Centre, the Ministry of Culture of Slovenia, Liverpool University and the Whistlestop Café.
