Opera Singer confirms May Concert – Tickets now on Sale
Bryn Terfel has announced a special concert at Bangor University with recipients of his foundation to mark the centenary of Prichard-Jones Hall in May. The announcement coincides with the presentation of an Honorary Doctorate in Music from the University for the international opera singer.
The opera star, renowned for his portrayal of Mozart, Verdi and Wagnerian roles, will perform with talented young musicians and singers who have become members of his foundation at the historic venue on Saturday 19 May at 7.00pm. This Bangor University organized event is sponsored by Quilter, the wealth manager, and Arts and Business Cymru.
Tickets for the concert are now available and can be purchased online through http://www.pontio.co.uk or www.wmc.org.uk/WhatsOn/Pontio or via the Pontio Box Office 01248 382828.
Bryn Terfel says, “I’m thrilled to announce that I will be returning to Bangor University in May with recipients of the Bryn Terfel Foundation to perform at the remarkable Prichard-Jones Hall. The concert will provide a platform for these young singers and performers to showcase their talents in front of an intimate audience. The foundation was created to award individuals financially for their hard work and dedication at the beginning of their careers. It is a small step to helping them to a successful singing career.”
Dr David Roberts, Bangor University Secretary and Registrar, adds, “We are delighted to celebrate the centenary of Prichard-Jones Hall. I cannot think of a better way to complete the celebrations than with one of the best opera stars of recent times performing side by side with the future generation.”
The Bryn Terfel Foundation was established in 2009 and awards individual young artists with clear talent and outstanding focus, drive and initiative.
Bryn also supports Urdd Gobaith Cymru’s Ysgoloriaeth Bryn Terfel, a scholarship worth £4,000 to the winner. The main aim of this scholarship is to nourish and develop some of Wales’ most talented young individuals.
