Queen’s Birthday Honours for Bangor
Bangor University Treasurer to receive MBE
Congratulations to David Wyn Williams, DL, Treasurer and Deputy Chair of the University’s Council, whose award of an MBE was announced in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list recently.
Mr. David Williams is to receive the MBE for voluntary service to business and the community in North Wales.
David Williams is former Area Director for HSBC Bank in North Wales. He currently holds a number of non-executive directorships. Amongst activities outside the University, David is Chairman of the North Wales Business Club and a member of the Board of Coleg Llandrillo FE college. In addition to his roles on the University’s Council, David Williams Chairs the Resources Committee and is a member of the Advisory Board of the Bangor Business School. He is also a non-executive director of the Management Development Centre Ltd.
Bangor Forestry Graduate is awarded an OBE in Queens Birthday Honours list
Paul Nolan, who graduated from Bangor’s Forestry course in 1986 is currently Director of the Mersey Forest, working for Cheshire West and Chester Council.
The Mersey Forest Partnership has planted more than 8 million trees – equivalent to five new trees for every person living within the Forest area. Praised as a "visionary concept", its 'more from trees' approach brings a whole host of environmental, health and economic benefits. Paul’s dedication to the work has led to him receiving this prestigious award ‘for services to Forestry’
