Red Carpet School of Creative Studies and Media Showcase 2013
The School of Creative Studies and Media (SCSM) Showcase event will be held on Friday May 3rd from 7pm in MALT. Now in its second year, it is a free event that is open to the public, but it is ticketed. Anyone who would like to book a ticket can contact Mikey Murray (m.murray@bangor.ac.uk).
The evening will comprise of a red carpet event where all attendees are expected to wear smart dress and it will showcase the best student work, both undergraduate and postgraduate from The School of Creative Studies and Media, involving a range of work across various creative studies and media disciplines.
There are no awards for student work, but the winners of SCSM's second annual screenwriting competition will be announced during the event and a special presentation will be made to Student Cut Films, who as a group won the commission from Bangor University's Halls Office to produce their new Student Fire Safety video.
The Screenwriting competition is judged by Jamie Sherry, Mikey Murray, Joanna Wright, and Geraint Wyn Ellis. The range of work will be of a particularly high standard, just as it was last year, and the event will demonstrate (especially in the film production discipline) how students progress from year one through to dissertation and post-graduate level.
Other disciplines represented include Journalism, Media and gaming content and Creative Writing. The event will kick off with introductory speeches from the Head of School, Stephanie Marriott and the Vice-Chancellor. We fully expect that MALT will be at capacity this year, so reserving a ticket for the event as early as possible is advisable. The event is followed by an after party at 9.30pm in the Menai Hotel on Craig y Don road, which is a few minutes walk from Main Arts. All who attended the Showcase are welcome with their ticket.
