REF 2014 confirms growth in Quality of Chemistry research
The Head of the School of Chemistry has welcomed the results of the 2014 REF, in which research from the School was one of 14 submissions made by Bangor University.
Dr Mike Beckett said, “The quality of our outputs (publications) have significantly increased with 68% now being world leading or internationally excellent (up from 40% in 2008) and all our outputs being at least internationally recognised for their quality.
“Our impact (including case studies) was internationally recognised for its quality with 70% being rated as internationally leading.
“Overall, 67% of our submission was world leading or internationally excellent (up from 45% in 2008) with the average Quality score for Chemistry continuing to improve and is up from 2.45 to 2.70.
When put alongside our recent very strong NSS results (top in Wales) , we see the 2014 REF results as vindicating our position as a School and a university that offers the best combination of a world-leading academic school along with a great student experience”
