Student wins iPad at Postgraduate Fair
When Joanne Keeler attended the Postgraduate Courses Fair in February, little did she realise that as well finding out more about the postgrad options available to her she would soon be the proud owner of a brand new iPad!
Third year Psychology student Joanne, originally from Aberystwyth, attended the Fair to follow up on her initial interest in specialising in Applied Behaviour Analysis, her favourite module from her undergraduate degree.
“I found the Postgrad Fair very useful as it gave me an opportunity to see exactly what was on offer here in Bangor in a manner that was easy to take in. I would tell everybody that they should attend, especially if they are interested in furthering their education.”
Following the Fair, Joanne is hoping to be accepted on to the Masters course in Applied Behaviour Analysis at Bangor, which she plans to use as the basis for a career working with individuals suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
Upon learning that she had been randomly selected from over 250 registrations on the day of the event as the winner of the iPad, Joanne’s first reaction was … scepticism!
“When I first received the news I was in disbelief that it was in fact true (although there was a lot of squealing to be heard within the department’s Maclab!) and until I had it in my hand I didn’t believe that it wasn't a joke!”
However, as the picture shows, Joanne’s disbelief soon turned to delight as the iPad was handed over by Michael Rogerson, the University’s Postgraduate Marketing Officer:
“I’m delighted to hand this over to Joanne as a very worthy winner. I’m really pleased to hear from Joanne that winning this was not the only positive thing she took from the Postgraduate Courses Fair, and that she is keen to stay at Bangor to pursue her Masters degree.”
And it was left to Joanne to have the final word about her experience at Bangor.
“Bangor is THE best place to study, access to support is there if required, resources are readily available for all courses, lecturers and staff are very friendly and the social side of university life in Bangor is excellent with something to suit everyone.”
