Students to perform with comedian Phill Jupitus
Students from Bangor University are looking forward to sharing a stage with comedian Phill Jupitus.
Members of the University Society Bangor Comedy are busy preparing for the ‘Student Goat’, an improv comedy show in the style of Whose Line Is it Anyway and Mock the Week, which will be performed with legendary comedian Phill Jupitus.
The show, on Saturday, September 15th at 3pm in the Orme Suite in Venue Cymru, is part of the Giddy Goat Comedy festival which will be held from September 14th – 16th. All proceeds will go to St David’s Hospice in Llandudno.
Taking part will be students Josh Fenby-Taylor, 20, and Alex Baxendale, 19, both studying Psychology and Stephen Hill, 20, who is studying Law as well as postgraduate students Cathal McCabe, 21, Rhiannon Thompson, 21, Joshua Pink, 26, and Gareth Monk, 21.
Patrick Pritchard, President of Bangor Comedy, said: “All of the performers are very excited about the opportunity to be onstage with Phill Jupitus as this is not something every University Comedy society gets the chance to do!
“We were involved with the Giddy Goat festival last year and after a very successful show, where we raised over £1000 for St David’s Hospice, we were asked back to perform again this year.”
Patrick added: “Bangor Comedy is one of the most successful societies at Bangor University. It has three main branches; Improv, Stand Up & Sketches and Media Comedy.
“We put on regular shows throughout the Academic year in and around Bangor and hold three practice sessions a week. These are open to anybody who would like to give comedy of any form a go – so come along!”
Advance tickets cost £5 or £7 on the day. To buy tickets email comedy@undeb.bangor.ac.uk or call the Venue Cymru Booking Office on 01492 872000 quoting ‘Bangor’, if you are a Bangor Student, to have the usual £2.50 booking fee waived.
