The School of History at the National Eisteddfod!
Staff from the School of History, Welsh History and Archaeology will be contributing to the activities at the National Eisteddfod of Wales, Denbigh [3-11 August 2013]…
- Y Plas’ (‘The Mansion’): Dr Lowri Ann Rees will be a participant in a discussion panel on the new S4C history reality series ‘Y Plas’. Others joining Lowri on the panel will be Dafydd Rhys (S4C), Rachel Evans (Bulb Films), Margaret Williams (National Trust). Time and location: Monday, 5 August, 1-2, S4C Theatre.
- ‘Y Brifysgol Ddoe a Heddiw’ (The University Yesterday and Today): In this session Dr Andrew Edwards, Dr Mari Elin Wiliam, Dr Lowri Rees and Dr Euryn Roberts will be gathering recollections of student life in Bangor in the past. Lois Owen, a 3rd year undergraduate student who is writing a dissertation on Welsh language protests in Bangor during the 1970s, will also be assisting. If you are a former student with a story to share, or perhaps documents and photographs from your time in Bangor, then please come along to the session. Time and location: Wednesday, 7 August, 12-1, Bangor University Stand.
- ‘Cymal Iaith y Ddeddf Uno 1536’ (‘The Language Clause of the 1536 Act of Union’): Ms Nia Powell will be arguing that the language clause of the 1536 Act of Union saved the Welsh language in a lecture to the Carnhuanawc Society. Time and location: Wednesday, 7 August, 12.40, Cymdeithasau 2 Tent.
