Wales’s ‘Greatest Artist’ in the Spotlight

Bangor University’s annual T Rowland Hughes art lecture will this year commemorate the centenary of the birth of Sir Kyffin Williams, an Honorary Fellow of the University and a man regarded by many as Wales’s greatest artist.

The lecture by leading arts journalist and critic Rian Evans entitled “Kyffin Williams: the artist as Time-Lord” will be delivered on Tuesday 5 June (6.00pm in the Eric Sunderland/Main Arts Lecture Theatre, Bangor University).

Rian Evans knew Kyffin Williams well, and she has written extensively about him. Her new book, Kyffin Williams: The Light & The Dark, was published last month for the artist’s centenary. In her illustrated lecture on 5 June, Rian Evans will explore how Kyffin’s insatiable curiosity and interest in the past as well as the present fed into his iconic works of art.

Admission to the Lecture is free. All are welcome.
