Welcome to the North Wales GP Academic Clinical Fellows Scheme

Welcome to the home page of the North Wales Academic Clinical Fellows Scheme. This Welsh Government sponsored Scheme is run by the North Wales Centre for Primary Care Research, within the School of Healthcare Sciences. This group is a constituent part of the new Bangor Institute for Health and Medical Research.

Confirmation of funding for the first three year cohort of the Scheme was received in early December 2015, and the anticipated date for advertising the first posts is August 2016 .

The Scheme provides the opportunity for motivated General Practitioners to learn to research and teach, while providing much needed support to general practices in the most deprived areas of North Wales to improve their patient care.

We believe this to be a perfect match: a firm grounding in the founding ethos of the NHS to provide equality in healthcare, while recognising that the doctors providing that care deserve career enhancing opportunities.

All this of course in North Wales: an area of outstanding natural beauty and almost unlimited scope for adventure for anyone who loves the outdoors.
