Strategy, Projects and Planning
We provide leadership, co-ordination and support for the University in the areas of strategic projects and partnerships, strategy and business planning, business intelligence, and external data returns.
Service provision is organised across three teams:
Planning and business intelligence
Development and monitoring of the University’s strategic plan and key performance indicators; support for business planning across academic Schools and Professional Services; student number and resource planning; liaison with HEFCW on strategic issues; risk management; management of the University’s REF processes.
Development and implementation of management information and insight, including the development of the University’s Business Intelligence system (PowerBI) and benchmarking capabilities; market analysis; analysis of University surveys; analysis of external performance data and league tables; ad hoc information requests.
Strategic projects and partnerships
Strategic project development, supporting programmes and projects with Executive sponsorship to describe, position and plan transformational projects which deliver against the University strategy. The team support strategic positioning, brokership, project development, business planning, project delivery, funder engagement and embedding. As part of the wider function of the team we also lead and support strategic engagement with regional bodies, industry and community stakeholders working closely with the Executive team.
Corporate data
Statutory data returns to the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales (HEFCW) and the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA – Student, Staff, Graduate Outcomes, Unistats); data returns to Health Education Improvement Wales (HEIW); management of Student Loans Company (SLC) data; management of tuition fee charging and refunds.
